Description

Welcome to Tern Cottage, a classic seaside holiday home in Sussex. With a nod towards Arts & Crafts and stripped back Scandi style, this two-bedroom cottage offers comfort, tasteful décor and a touch of quirky coastal charm. For a weekend break in the Sussex sun or a family holiday by the sea, this warm and welcoming rental in the heart of Bognor Regis provides everything you need for a memorable stay.

On the ground floor, the cosy sitting room with small Smart TV is ideal for relaxing after a day of exploring the nearby beaches and attractions. The well-equipped kitchen invites you to prepare meals with ease, and to the rear there is a bathroom with separate shower and WC.

Venture upstairs to discover the intimate dining room, perfect for enjoying family meals or dinner and drinks with friends. The Master Bedroom offers a king-size bed (150cm wide), while Bedroom Two has a single bed (90cm wide), with an additional pull-out bed to make a 180cm side-by-side twin for bookings with four guests.

Outside and accessed via the bathroom, there is a tranquil courtyard garden with table and chairs, and a cute cabin for storing bikes and your beach kit.

Just a 500-metre flat walk away, the famous shoreline of Bognor seafront beckons for bathing and beach days. The simple pleasures of a beach holiday to a seaside town is a cultural right of passage, and the accessible nature of Bognor ensures this long tradition is passed to the next generation of sepia-toned memory makers. West Sussex is officially the sunniest county in England, and the long golden summers are part of the reason King George V granted Bognor his royal seal of approval in 1929, with the official ‘Regis’ title. See the ‘House info’ section for more information about this seaside holiday home near Chichester, Goodwood and Arundel.

Located just a brief walk from Bognor Regis' vibrant town centre and iconic beach, Tern Cottage provides easy access to a wide range of shops, cafes, bars and entertainment options. Explore the beautiful West Sussex coastline, indulge in seaside delicacies, or simply relax with the sound of the waves down at the beach. The pebble shore reveals large stretches of sand as the tide goes out, and is just a short, flat walk from the house. For an intriguing piece of local history head to the beach near Marine Park Gardens at low tide, where kids love to explore the sandy rock pools formed around the wreck of an old Mulberry Harbour pontoon.

There are some excellent restaurants nearby, including Chez Moi and The Bonito Lounge in town, Fino in Felpham and The Lamb Inn at Aldwick. A half hour stroll along the promenade will bring you to The Lobster Pot in Felpham for fantastically fresh, simple seafood. Local shops and pubs are plentiful nearby, and there are larger supermarkets including M&S, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Aldi and Lidl within a 5-10 minute drive.

This is a fabulous coastline to stretch your legs east to Climping and onwards to Littlehampton, or west to Aldwick and Pagham. Jump in the car and Pagham Harbour Nature Reserve and Chichester Harbour a little further to the west are both areas of outstanding natural beauty, and a haven for unusual birds, wildlife and nature conservation, along with sailing centres at Itchenor and Bosham.

For an indulgent treat head to Bailiffscourt Spa in Climping. For a family day trip, head to Butlins with its indoor and outdoor water park ‘Splashworld’, and a range of entertainment and rides to keep the kids and grown-up kids happy. The historic market town of Arundel is just ten miles up the road, and is well worth a trip to stroll the riverbank and see the iconic castle and cathedral. Petite and cosmopolitan, the cathedral city of Chichester is only seven miles away with an excellent range of independent and high street shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. Chichester Festival Theatre is well worth a visit; renowned for its quality of theatre production, many of which premiere here before moving on to London. Just north of Chichester, the Goodwood Estate includes a motor circuit, racecourse and aerodrome and is home to the world-famous Festival of Speed, Goodwood Revival and Glorious Goodwood (Qatar Festival).
