Local area

Seaford boasts a picturesque beach that stretches along the English Channel. With its pebble shoreline, it offers a serene escape for visitors seeking tranquility. The cliffs to the east offer fabulous views of the iconic Seven Sisters chalk cliffs and Cuckmere Haven, creating a dramatic backdrop. On sunny days, locals and tourists alike enjoy leisurely strolls, picnics, and beachcombing. The promenade provides stunning views of the sea, and the fresh coastal breeze invigorates the senses. For history enthusiasts, the Martello Tower, a Napoleonic-era fortification and now a museum, stands sentinel on the beach. It’s a fascinating glimpse into Seaford’s past. Whether you’re exploring the cliffs, collecting seashells, or simply unwinding by the waves, Seaford’s beach is a delightful destination.

From Seaphare it’s a short, flat walk to the centre of Seaford where there are plenty of large and small supermarkets, shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs. Try Aimee's Kitchen for excellent Vietnamese, Rathfinney’s Vineyard just north of Seaford near Alfriston (a lovely walk over the South Downs, check out the beautiful village while you are there), and the Steamworks pub for a drink or two.

The Downs meets the sea at this eastern end of the National Park and it really is a most picturesque area, in particular the contrasting landscapes of the rolling downlands and open views at Cuckmere Haven, and the chalk cliffs of Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters. The chalk grasslands of the Crowlink walk make for a wonderfully romantic route to access the cliff tops. For watersports lovers there is a wide range of activities including paddleboarding that can be enjoyed, all the way down from the village to the sea along the beautiful meandering river valley. Equipment hire can be booked at the centres in Seaford and Exceat.

Close by are Charleston Farmhouse and gardens, the award-winning Drusillas Zoo and Park 5 miles away, Glyndebourne Opera, Firle Place, Pevensey Castle, the Long Man of Wilmington, and Airbourne and international tennis at Eastbourne. Lewes is also only 10 miles away, steeped in history and heritage with a thriving cultural scene including the Lewes Bonfire celebrations in early November.

Reviews

The beach views from the upstairs living space are spectacular

Home from another wonderful stay in Seaford with my husband, two children and our dog. Seaphare has recently been fully renovated and the transformation is incredible. We loved it the last time we stayed, and now it's even better! The beach views from the upstairs living space are spectacular and the house just has a wonderful feeling of serenity and calm with large comfy sofas, where you could spend all day looking out to sea. That coupled with the fact that the house is fully equipped with everything you could want and need - A modern kitchen and large dining space and it's all tastefully and creatively decorated, with lovely touches like great books, magazines and games. Seaphare is at the start of a beautiful walk towards Seven Sisters, plus many other lovely trails. It's also an easy 15min walk into Seaford town centre or a 1min walk to the beautiful beach. We didn't want to leave and we'll definitely be back for more R&R. Thank you!
